Las Vegas image may be a glitter city, excitement of entertainment experience, shows, concert, boxing event, and techno house clubs and DJs.  Yet many may not discovered, Vegas has some festivals you may visit if you are local or you are in town in particular days. One is called First Friday Festival. it located around 18b art district. It holds once a month, fist Friday of a month. Natural color or dyed one

When we traveled to Sedona Arizona, one of things I love to do is to visit rock, mineral, crystal stores. Sedona is known as special energy retreat area, so I was excited to do my rock hounding at stores.  One of our favorite stones all time is Turquoise. At mineral shop, we found some blue-green-ish turquoise stones that we never seen like that before. Turquoise are very soft, fragile, they are often treated, enchanted, stabilized work may necessary before lined up at jewelry stores. Patrified wood rock hounding

Dry land, Las Vegas Nevada used to have water, big lake. As seen the one of evidence of water existed here is finding petrified wood, tree needs to water to grow.  Head to north from Las Vegas, near Valley of Fire state park, there are a lot of petrified wood you can collect. We joined rockhounding trip. We enjoy searching petrified wood. Petrified woods are everywhere on the ground where we stood. About 150 million years old petrified woods are stay here and now let us enjoy collecting them. I can not resist taking selfie with petrified woods. I am now looking forward to cut and polish...

Labradorite

Labradorite rock shows rainbow flush on surface. It is a part of leaning process as Lapidary artist. Sliced stone different angle and see beautiful coloring inside. We have a good rock for making cabochon, freeform jewelry stones.   We made some from the labradorite rock. Now time for them to become Jewelry

Rock Shopping at Gem & Mineral Show

Our new year of 2017 is going to shop rocks at Gem & Mineral show AZ. We are looking for some specific rocks/slabs this time. Malachite is one of them. Lucky to find a vender that had a lot of Malachite. Next shopping lists were Sugilite and Charolite. As a power stone, they are believed to be most powerful healing stones. That was also said as high-end stones for jewelry. Keep asking Venders if they have these stones until we found. Finally, we found venders carry them even tiny pieces of them.
